Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative is a member of Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO), Cedar Rapids, Iowa. CIPCO is a generation and transmission cooperative supplying power to its 13 member distribution cooperatives covering a territory which stretches 300 miles diagonally across the state. CIPCO meets its members’ energy needs with a diverse fuel mix of coal, nuclear, hydro, wind, natural gas, and oil energy resources. By purchasing renewable energy, CIPCO enables its member systems to offer green energy options. More than 95 percent of the power CIPCO provides to its members is generated in Iowa, and roughly 53 percent is generated from carbon-free resources, minimizing the impact to our environment.
